Cooterbrowns Kennels rests on 200 acres just south of Edgewood, Texas. The land has been in the family for over 50 years and his home to a large pea patch, watermelon patch, some years 15,000 tomato plants, and beautiful golden retrievers, labrador retrievers, and rhodesian ridgebacks.
All of the breeding dogs are kept in what we call our dog common area, which is a two acre fenced in facility. The dogs are under the cover of a pavillion while in their pens. All of the puppies are born in the friendly confines of our dining room to ensure that we have the ability to assist with any problems that may occur during pregnancy.
The puppies and mothers stay in the dining room until the pups are at least two weeks old. From there, they are transported to a climate controlled building where they reside until they are five weeks old. Because of
worms and other diseases that young puppies are extremely succeptable of contracting, our puppies don't ever touch the dirt until they are five weeks old.
Our puppy house, as we call it, stays cleaner than most people's homes. Inside the puppy house, each mother and her litter of pups has their own private stall. The pups nurse on a consistent basis and begin puppy chow just before turning four weeks old. By the time they are six weeks old, they are completey weined from their mother.
All of our vaccination boosters, worming medicine, and other medications needed to treat both the dogs and puppies come directly from our veterinarian. We purchase from our vet to ensure the quality of the produce that we are distibuting to our dogs.
In addition to daily exercise in the puppy yard, many of the dogs
receive extra work and play time running the entire 200 acres and swimming in one of our ponds.
Our dogs are fat and healthy and their off-spring are cared for by delicate hands. We take pride in our operation and it shows when you get your new
puppy home!.
